At Creative Works, we believe that dreams fulfilled bring not only happiness and joy, but a deeper connection to life’s possibilities – for both dreamers and donors! Inspired by the life of a beloved employee who passed away suddenly, John-David Hardt, our dream-granting program, Dreams from the Hardt, continues his legacy of seeking to make people’s dreams come true with determination and zeal.

Simply put, the Dreams from the Hardt program funds dreams, both large and small, ambitious and simple, for individuals with intellectual disabilities, those on the autism spectrum, and those with brain injuries. The Dreams from the Hardt program is able to provide opportunities for cultural, spiritual, arts and entertainment enrichment through the generous donations of community partners as well as supporters like you.

Many of the dreamers who apply to the program live on less than $50 a month in disposable income—limited funds that are most often spent on necessities like clothing, furniture and over-the-counter medications. This leaves very little for the kinds of activities that many people take for granted, such as going out for coffee, seeing a movie, going to a beauty salon for a haircut, or learning how to surf. Dreams from the Hardt’s sole reason for being is to make dreams come true. We’ve granted over 220 dreams to date.

Participants in any Creative Works program are eligible to have their dreams come true! Family members and Creative Works staff may also apply to the program on behalf of a participant. A committee of employee volunteers manages the fund, launching dreams from paper to reality. Volunteering on this committee becomes the highlight of many employees’ tenure, inspiring them to continue to pursue excellence in all things they do at Creative Works.
