Residential Services for People with Brain Injury

Whether acquired from an accident or stroke or due to genetic and neurological conditions, brain injury is a deeply impactful experience. One of our fastest growing areas of support, our Brain Injury programs provide an array of individualized, home-based services for adults with brain injuries.

For some people, brain injury is a life-altering event that can require sudden and intensive support. For others, it can be a condition a person has experienced their entire life. However a person’s life is affected by brain injury, our services provide vital support through our 24/7 Residential Care and In-Home Supports programs for individuals throughout southern and central Maine. Whether a participant needs round-the-clock or as-needed care, our programs are customizable and comprehensive because we recognize that, just as no two people are the same, no two brain injuries are the same.

At the core of our services are our highly-skilled and compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) who provide the personalized care that make integrated community living possible. Each DSP who works in a Brain Injury program is also a certified Qualified Brain Injury Support Provider (QBISP) so that they are best equipped to empower people with brain injuries to lead their best lives.

In each area of support, care is guided by the state-authorized Personal Care Plan (PCP), which is collaboratively developed by individuals served and the important people in their lives (family members, care coordinators, physicians, and support staff). The needs of individuals with brain injury change over time, and our programs are equally dynamic in meeting the individual where they need support, care and encouragement.

24/7 Residential Care

Creative Works provides full-time, round-the-clock care in a growing number of residences that enable adults with brain injuries to create not just places to live, but their own homes. Our residential care programs, located throughout southern and central Maine, are places where individuals are empowered by staff to seek self-satisfaction, accomplish their daily routines and develop long-term goals.

We are dedicated to creating places for people to live that are genuinely homey, safe and inclusive. Located in quiet neighborhoods, our residences are comfortable and spacious with all the makings of a true home. All of our brain injury homes are brand new, and have been architecturally designed to maximize the ease with which people can move around, be independent, and have their own areas of privacy and solitude. They are all on very large lots in beautiful natural settings, with ample wildlife and large areas for outdoor living, walks and activities.

Participants are matched with housemates who share similar passions and many folks develop lasting personal connections that span their lifetimes. Together, they form a familial environment where staff provide care that encourages independence, teamwork and community choice.

In-Home Supports

Creative Works In-Home Supports offers the customized assistance available in our full-time residential programs, but in the personal residences of individuals served. Working with each person and their family or guardian, we collaboratively identify the forms of support that are desired and develop a support team comprised of staff focused entirely on maintaining the individual’s needs, engaging with their personal challenges and realizing their goals.
